Mindfulness & Meditation
As science has proven over the last 40 years, practicing mindfulness or meditation provides tremendous benefit to our mental health and our ability to manage stress. Mindfulness and meditation are skills we can be taught, practice and improve over time. They help us create space to know more about what’s happening within ourselves and in the world around us.
- conscious breathing
- careful observation of thoughts, feelings and physical sensations
- curiosity rather than judgement
- embodiment, and
- being more present in the moment
Most importantly, mindfulness and meditation develop our ability to regulate our own central nervous system (CNS) and observe our own reactions and behaviors with less and less judgement. This allows us to make better choices and more often be our best selves.
Everything about the way I practice psychotherapy is infused with the development of self-awareness, self-regulation, and the ability to access open-hearted compassion for yourself and others.
